Circus Engelbregt

From December 25th to January 6th, we invite everyone, both from Buitenveldert and far beyond, to a meaningful celebration in the Amstelpark. Together we celebrate the carrying capacity of Mother Earth, her nourishing power and the place she offers us. A heart-warming Earth ritual, surrounded by fire and hot chocolate during the darkest days of the year.

People who want to come are cordially invited to bring a handful of soil from a place where they experience a connection with the Earth. You can dry and clean this soil at home in preparation (remove twigs, roots and stones).

Although Christmas originally meant reflection and turning inward, today’s Christmas celebration is often overloaded with abundance. CELEBRATE THE EARTH offers a new perspective, in which we strive for simplicity and connection. The desire for home and connection with the Earth is central. This initiative serves as an optimistic starting point to experience the urgency of Earth connection, not only for the planet but also for our individual well-being.

In the darkest days of the year, the veils between Heaven and Earth are thin. This phenomenon, also called the 12 Holy Nights, gives a magical touch to this time. In earlier times, these nights were celebrated with the ritual of Earth Stirring. We reflect on what we get and receive from the Earth, and we show gratitude. It is also a moment of connection with Heaven and the invisible world of dreams and intentions.

Man proves time and time again that he is capable of creating very complex problems. Fortunately, the Earth itself is not becoming more complicated. With all its multiplicity, it is, at its core, simple. This simplicity, and a human desire for it, is the starting point of Journey to Earth.

CELEBRATE THE EARTH is part of Journey to the Earth, an expedition that appeals to the inner imagination by maker collective Circus Andersom. A public search for forms, ideas, language, routes, anchors and compasses, to recalibrate our bond with Mother Earth.
